It’s typically a southern thing; bridal portraits. But you know these are becoming more and more common even for brides that hail from north of the Mason-Dixon Line. I love any opportunity I get to photograph one of my clients on a day before a wedding. Yes, it is great to do an engagement session with the couple but bridals are even good because it really is about setting up a relationship prior to the wedding day that far surpasses the consultation.
Ashley’s bridals were fantastic. And I knew they would be long before I even arrived on the property at Het Landhuis for the session. I had never visited the property before but the photos that I had seen online showed a very unique and very “me” wedding venue with barns, ponds, fields, and little nooks and crannies that were nothing short of spectacular. So I went in with a you will have more than enough mantra.
We lucked out with the weather and it was an absolutely amazing spring day. There was virtually no humidity and little breezes made the day quite pleasant for us all and especially Ashley as she was donning her perfection of a gown from David’s Bridal that had layers upon layers of fabric and detail. We wondered and took in the sites and easily as we bonded further through the session it was apparent that we were going to have such a fun day. I will throughly admit that we did take a bit of break in the middle of the portraits for a snack and a fantastic glass of wine (approved by the bride y’all – I don’t drink unless the client says I can) and well between the silly which I have pulled a few favorites from the session for a bloopers reel to that will post tomorrow and the serious these are seriously some amazing portraits if I do say so myself.
I knew my favorites were the ones in the bridal suite cabin with her in front of the door and the ones in the field at the end. There was some running and playing about and I literally LOLd while I was editing a zillion times but then she would turn it ON! Her model ability is amazing and now that she is a Mrs., I can share the whole post with you!
Enjoy some of my favorites from Ashley’s Het Landhuis bridal portrait session and be sure to stay tuned for the blooper real to post tomorrow so you can LOL too!
