Conferences are oh, so important for many professions and photography is one of them. I found out about this great conference a 8 or 9 months before it and really I was sold for a few reasons. I have been a long time follower and fan of Katelyn James of Katelyn James Photography based in Roanoke area of Virginia. So, when she announced that she was going to be speaking in a conference in Raleigh in a few months, I knew I had to go. She was coming to my own neck of the woods and I wasn’t going to miss it!
So the business bought me a Christmas gift a few months before the conference in the form of a confirmed attendee for the February, 2014 conference at the Angus Barn in Raleigh, NC.
Day one was all speakers, fellowship and of course food! It was at the Angus Barn after all. You gotta have steak and of course their signature cheese and various dippers for the cheese. There were people from all over the east coast there for the conference and I made some new friends, made connections with those that I had never met in person but followed their work for years and saw a few familiar faces! I learned a lot on day one BUT what I didn’t do was take my camera. I really wanted to be present for the day so I left it at home and only took some cell phone pictures. So, pardon the poor quality but iphone pictures only!
