The whole mess of awesome that is Kaitlin & Reid’s Downtown Raleigh Wedding at The Stockroom at 230 is now going to be completely on the blog. Y’all; these portraits – we went to Nash Square Park for starters and then continued down to Boylan Street bridge on The Raleigh Trolly for a shot I hate to admit I have done many, many times before. But never has it been this epic.
I feel I should explain. This is a very popular place for pictures because you get an absolutely epic scene of downtown Raleigh in the background. It’s like this street and bridge were put just here for this view. The problem with the location is that unless you have the perfect lighting scenario everything is a little bit washed and the people on the other side of the bridge really can’t see AT ALL because the sun is beaming down right at them. All can be solved if you happen to be there right after the sun dips behind the trees and the horizon OR you get a perfectly placed cloud over the sun creating a soft box over the sun and casting some amazing diffused light. As much as I would like to think I have the power to make clouds, the sun and the earth move – I don’t. ;( BUT when it happens to happen at the perfect time – you as the photographer start screaming with delight.
Such is the case with the Boylan Bridge pictures from this wedding. You will notice that the lighting changes pretty drastically as the images progress. We start with SUN beaming on everyone and then enter epic cloud cover – and y’all that is the REAL SKY. I do use overlays if I have to and very rarely but that sky is really real. I couldn’t have painted it any better.
I do hope that at least a few of those become a massive canvas in their house – and if not their house it will go in my studio. It was amazing and I literally screamed with delight. I think they briefly thought I lost my mind and was yelling at them with my “KISSSSSSSSS” from across the street with traffic occasionally blazing by. My camera was clicking with excitement too;)
AND then we got back on the trolly, rode back down the hill and wandered through the craziness that is Brewgaloo Raleigh and then party!
It was an awesome party with dancing and singing and some air guitar by none other than the groom – Reid. I will admit I was singing and dancing too. The food was awesome as it always is. I loved working with Happily Ever After Raleigh and Alex of Vox Djs for the first time. It was epic and I do hope that we all get to do it again – BUT since Kaitlin and Reid are already wed it will have to be for another lucky couple that do their wedding the right way!
Thanks for keeping with me through the crazy photographer rant and ENJOY part II of Kaitlin & Reid’s Downtown Raleigh, NC wedding at The Stockroom!
