I can think of no better gift for a birthday than pictures and that is just what the cause of this gathering was – it was grandma’s birthday! The whole family got together from all corners of the country and met in Durham for an updated family session.
The boys in this session made this session very interesting and lively. They were FULL of energy and excitement. I wish it was that they were full of excitement about taking the pictures however they were more excited about the promises of doughnuts and a big breakfast treat after the session was over. Ah, not everyone is excited about pictures as I am;)
We seriously got extremely lucky with the weather for this session. Originally this session was scheduled for Saturday morning – the day after the session actually happened. However, it had always and forever been calling for 100% chance of rain on that Saturday morning and we feared that if we chanced it we wouldn’t have great memories from the session – just a whole lot of wet subjects. So we moved it to Friday morning and it was perfectly overcast and the cherry blossom trees were in full bloom and since the storm had yet to come through the blooms were still very much intact. We did had a bit of a breeze which cause the blossoms to blow off the trees and it looked like it was snowing! It was amazing and those are some of my very favorite pictures! They also happen to include the birthday girl so I say it is a win-win!
This adorable family, some perfection of overcast weather on a non crowded weekday morning at Duke Gardens and some blooming Cherry Blossom trees MADE this session every bit of perfection that it turned out to be. Needless to say, if we had waited until Saturday morning it would have been drizzling as well as mildly more busy at the gardens because even on a rainy morning it is busy at Duke Gardens on a weekend and the Cherry Blossom would have been pelted by the rain and not as glorious as they were the morning of this session.
It was a perfection of a session and I hope you enjoy some of my favorites!
