This begins a series of posts from a great 2 day session that I spent recently in Bald Head Island, NC with the Minior Family. I have photographed them many many times. In fact this was my second time traveling to Bald Head Island to visit with them and take some family pictures. Day was was very dicey with the weather. It was intermittently sprinkling but we really didn’t have much of an option as the family was going to be loosing a few members back to non vacation life and we had to get these sessions done.
We braved the wind and the sprinkling rain and ended up getting some really great shots. It cleared up a little after dinner and we took a night time stroll to capture the sunset and even after the sun went down we went on a non-photographed turtle walk. We never saw any turtles but the 1 hour before the walk was very educational and interesting. It included a video as well as some hands on activities in the live touch the animals area. They had fish and various sea critters that you could look at a touch. Great for kids. We then waited to hear if there were any turtles crawling up to lay eggs. Of course there was one false crawl (the turtle comes up to the beach/sand and goes all the way to the shore but doesn’t like the look or smell of something so they literally turn around and go back into the ocean) and it was fast. We unfortunately were still at the learning center and didn’t make it fast enough to see the false crawl.
I love this island and LOVE this family for bringing me out so many times to fellowship with them. It is a great time to be had by all!
Enjoy a few favorites from the entire families beach session. Over the next few days I will show a few of my favorites from the individual family sessions that we did scattered around the island.
