I have the honor to photograph many weddings as an associate photographer for my friend Brian of Brian Mullins Photography and this was another awesome Duke Chapel Wedding.
This particular wedding was an absolute dream as I have photographed many times at Duke Chapel in Durham, NC for a wedding or baptism but this was the first time the wedding would be late enough in the day and as the fall ticked by, the day light got shorter and shorter and as the ceremony ended it would be completely dark outside. Maybe a bit of the blue still in the sky way past sunset; but all in all – Duke Chapel would be in the dark.
An amazing location like Duke Chapel is perfection in the day and the night time as they have lots of interesting elements that look fantastic in both the day and the night. I had this vision of a bride and groom in the center arch on one of the arcades to the side of the chapel but adding to the awesome, Summer and Scott are really well trained dancers – so I went with it – dance with each other under the stars. That ended up being one of my favorite images of the day.
Their reception was at the beautiful Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club and as they decided to do a first look before the ceremony, we were able to capitalize on all the amazing sunlight and beautiful at the Washington Duke. So – they got the best of both worlds – daylight on the golf corse and night time at Duke Chapel!
I do hope you enjoy this wedding as much as I loved shooting it. Summer and Scott made it so easy and effortless. They were just excited to get married and share in this special day with their friends and family.
