2014 has been a great year for Red Bridge. The transition to a full time business is in full swing and with that comes the constant need and persistance to learn, improve and exceed my own expectations at every step of the way. One way that I do that is by attending workshops and I attended a few this year but one that I have yet to blog about is one that I actually WON the seat for! entered around this time last year to win a workshop seat at a local workshop by one of my favorite newborn and maternity photographers. Her style varied from mine but I knew I could learn lots from her and not just about how she shoots.
She has a large and very successful maternity and baby photography business that she also ran out of her home in Florida and as luck would have it her parents actually live just outside of the triangle of NC so she was up here frequently for visits. She had her workshop scheduled for May of this year and the morning of the workshop as I was driving to the location, I got a somewhat panicked phone call from her that the location had burned down over night. Freak accident and fire but no one was hurt. Obviously we couldn’t have the workshop there so we elected to reschedule for August.
The August workshop was at her parents beautiful home in Pittsboro, NC. We had breakfast and snacks over discussing all things business. She even supplied us with many mannuals and information pamphlets AND she sweetened it by gifting all of us all her presets, actions and downloadable business planners.
A workshop wouldn’t be a workshop without live shooting and photographing and we had many different types to learn and grow with. We started with a precious newborn boy, then two expectant moms to be followed by an adorable 6 month old.
I had a great time at the Modern Baby Workshop and of course I have some favorite images so I hope you enjoy and make sure you check out her page too! You won’t be dissapointed!
