Wedding and Portrait Society Portrait Palooza : Hall at Landmark Wedding Photographer

I am a member of an absolutely fantastic local organization of photographers called The Wedding and Portrait Society (The WPS) and we have monthly meetings as well as an annual shooting competition called Portrait Palooza!  Every year I have either participated, proctored, or just supported the photo completion.  It is a whole mess of fun – each photographer has 10 minutes in a venue and you are randomly given a model in a wedding dress and a bouquet.  The bride has gone through hair and makeup by some local talent that have donated their time and talent to the cause and you have 10 minutes to take as many pictures as you want.  After the competition is over you select your best of your best and submit them back to the WPS and the WPS delivers them to all the vendors that participated (venue, models, hair, makeup, florist) and they collectively vote on the images.  Whomever gets the most votes WINS!

Wins what is not important but honestly it is mostly about bragging rights and I think maybe a gift certificate is involved but any who – what you win isn’t important – it is really just winning;)

This year I didn’t shoot because I was off to Vegas in a few days for WPPI and I knew I wouldn’t be able to get my images finished and ready in time and prep myself for the conference so I did go and help out and also photographed each of the bouquets so that the florist would have some beautiful images for donating them to us!
