Here is a full circle moment. When I photographed Chris and Laurelin at their engagement session and their wedding years back I didn’t know that years later I would photograph not only their first childs’ newborn session but as their second! Y’all – this is truly my happy. Seeing people over and over again as they grow their families!
Charlie took a little bit longer to arrive than Lucy did but once he did the session was a go! We even used the horse saddle from Lucy’s newborn session (which I just realized I never blogged – gah! – There was a time my blogging was really bad and I still have to go back and do that) but what was funny about Charlie’s time sleeping on the saddle was that he is longer than Lucy was when she was a newborn so he required a bit more finagling to get him to fit on there. I knew I wanted to have Lucy in on some of those too so before we did just Charlie pictures Lucy sat next to him sleeping on the saddle.
I can honestly say that Lucy was extremely well behaved and one of the best big siblings I have had in the studio. Sure there was one meltdown (you will see the picture) but y’all – smiles for DAYS from this one!
After the family stuff the rest of the session went swimmingly. He slept and slept and slept through each different setting we had planned and I was also finally able to do a set up on the bean bag I had been wanting to try for awhile with the bright yoyo quilt as an overlay. I had it planned for previous sessions and then the colors weren’t right or the family had a completely different color pallet in mind. This time it worked and I LOVE IT!
We finished with a grey backdrop and a baby blue hat.
Hope y’all enjoy some of my favorites from Charlie’s newborn session! I do hope to see these guys again and again as these kiddos grow! I don’t think there will be any more babies ;( but family sessions are always a great opportunity!
