I have so LOVED getting to document so many milestones of this little one in anticipation of his arrival and now – his NEWBORN session! GAH! I LOVE this family! Henry’s mom and I grew up next to each other in Mint Hill, NC from when I was 11 to when I left for college. We kept in touch over the years from me coming back from college for visits as well as I was at her wedding and even caught the bouquet at her wedding!
I did Courtney’s maternity session in May at Freedom park as well as at their amazingly beautiful home in Charlotte and then I sat back and waited for the call.
Well, Henry arrived and then lickidy split I was on my way to Charlotte for another visit and this time I got to meet HENRY! What a doll and adorable prince this little one is for this blessed family. He put up a little fight at the beginning and then voila – sleep set in. We got some amazing newborn pictures of him and this was the first session that I was able to use my brand new flokati rugs that I had long waited to purchase. I knew these rugs would be a fantastic edition to the studio – I only hate that I waited as long as I did to buy them. I love how every.single.image turned out!
I do love to do some lifestyle shots as well when I am invited into a family home and of course – we had to incorporate Chloe. Henry’s older sister and a beautiful white dog into the shoot. I loved how attentive she was to me when we first arrived in the nursery. And then the progression of the images are perfect for what is the every day life according to mom Courtney as Chloe always lays right on the floor where she is in the images while Courtney is feeding Henry or putting him to sleep. The PERFECT guard dog and big sister to this little prince.
There was also this family heirloom wooden cradle that was built by Henry’s grandpa that has rocked to sleep Henry’s uncle, Henry’s mom and now Henry. The plaques on the end tell this fantastic story and some of the cradle ended up being my favorite! So glad the mosquitoes stayed away for a few quick frames as I knew the only place to photograph this beautiful heirloom cradle was outside in the back yard.
I LOVE this family, this session and this little boy and I am so excited to watch him grow over the years.
I will see you over the holidays prince Henry and no worries about spit up or poop on your aunt through love Rebecca – it comes with the territory!
