Oh Ms Isla was an absolute amazing model for her Raleigh newborn session recently in the studio! Beth, Isla’s mom was a bridesmaid in a wedding I shot back in April 2014 and I ran into her again in 2015 at a wedding and she was pregnant! She told me then that she wanted me to do Isla’s newborn session! I started coming up with ideas for this shoot and bam – the day of the shoot and everything was so uber perfect!
I wanted to incorporate a mom’s wedding dress into a shoot – but figuring out the best way to do it and feature the newborn was tricky. The gown is so big compared to the newborn. I am absolutely in love with what we came up with! AND the swing! Well, I have had it for some time and I wanted to use it but I had to have the right session and baby and Isla was perfect!
Also of note – the swing image is a composite of 2 images. Baby is completely supported on a bean bag (stay tuned for a behind the scenes post) and composited to look like she is on the swing. And mom Beth was also sitting right next to Isla when she was asleep on the train of her wedding gown so if she startled she wouldn’t fall off the stool that she is asleep on. Mom was removed in post processing. Safety first y’all!
Enjoy some favorites from Isla’s newborn session and I hope to see this little one more and more as she grows!
