This session had been in the works for awhile. This precious family was coming down for a visit to Grandma’s this fall and they wanted to do a portrait session at Duke Gardens. Well, we had the best time walking around and exploring. The SUN was out thankfully and it was a beautiful morning but it was following a rainy evening so things were slow to dry out. Eventually, we did find some places that were relatively dry and Ms. Princess was able to play and smile as well as get hugs from mom, dad and grandma.
It was a prefect morning session and boy did she give me some awesome expressions!
I do love 6 month old sessions so very much. They are probably one of my favorite ages besides newborns to photograph – especially when the little one is super happy and content in their space. You really can sit there and make silly faces and noises at them and get some of the best pictures. They may try to crawl or lean really far forward but ultimately, they are not going to go far fast so YAY! The disadvantage is that I am typically laying on the ground or in some form or fashion 60% of my body is on the ground and in cases like the weather was this particular morning – I got soaked with the even rain and dew that was on the grass.
Oh, well – small price to pay when you get pictures and expressions like these from a little one. AND the pictures wouldn’t have the same impact if shot from above. SO – I probably looked like I took a shower after this portrait session. Sometimes I do except with sweat. Small price to pay and WOW! Look at that little one!
